1. BackUpImportant FilesOnYourNotebook
The first step you should do before upgrading the notebook is to make backups of the data on your laptop. Although a bit time consuming, but it is very important. you certainly do not want if all your data just disappear? Use external devices such as flash disks, DVD-R or external hard drive to backup your  files.

2. Note The Notebook Spesification
Before you upgrade, you should know in advance the specifications of your notebooks in detail. You can read the manual or look on the internet. This will help you in planning and estimating your need to upgrade your laptop.

3. Learn The Upgrade Limit
Once you know the specifications of the notebook, then automatically you will know the limits to upgrade your notebook. make sure the components in your notebook like porcessor, memory, VGA and others that will be upgraded to adequately supported by the mainboard. When upgrading the VGA, make sure that your monitor or laptop screen also supports. How to use the correct notebook battery?

image from setiawantkj.blogspot.com

There are many questions that arise about how to use the right notebook batteries. I happened to find these questions on another site, there is little of my opinion may be useful.
1.       How long my battery  can survive?
Notebook battery will decrease with time if you use it or not. because the use of your battery begins to move when assembled. Elements within the battery will react, and sooner or later the battery is unable to supply sufficient power for your notebook. In addition, your battery is designed to last between 300-800 times the charge / recharge. And will gradually decrease its ability to supply power to the notebook.
In general, notebook battery will last between one to three years. You may be able to slow the decline in ability, but can not stop the process. Temperature, the manner and frequency of use of notebook batteries will affect the lifespan of the battery. You can slow this process with some care and maintenance.

2.     When connected to AC power, should be removed or inserted?
Battery who always attached (if overcharge) also participated in triggering overheating the notebook, which can cause damage to the motherboard. One indication is when used in long usage even without the battery, the notebook will quickly feel hot.
If still under warranty, take it to service center ask for repair. Usually if there are signs of damage, visible when we re-install via the optical drive (CD / DVD) instead of recovery via existing windows at the notebook factory default.

3.     Tips to extend the Battery Age
Calibrate the battery every 30 time charging to maintain the accuracy of the elements in the battery. Use your notebook until the battery runs out.
Here is the way, charge the battery fully, then turn off the laptop. (Only use the batteries only) turn the notebook back to safe mode and let it die with themselves. Better to do while not in use, this is to keep other components from damage.
Avoid repetition of regular wear out. Li-Ion the Battery less loss of storage capacity when it charged though not consumable.
Remove the battery and store in a cool and dry. Optimum charge level is 40% for long storage. Storing a battery with low power would cause permanent damage. Therefore, usually when you buy a new notebook, the battery has been filled about a quarter to a half.
If you want to keep the batteries in the refrigerator (refrigerator not freezer), use a sealed plastic bag to avoid moisture. Allow the battery to warm to room temperature before use.

4.     Can I install a battery of other brands even though it fit? And can I use a generic battery?
every laptop battery fitted microchip designed specifically to meet the required specifications of this notebook, and associated with an application that monitors battery usage. For example, certain applications on the notebook is programmed to provide a battery warning will expire at a certain level and the laptop shut down automatically at a certain level as well. If you are using a battery of other brands, may be, the setting is not appropriate. The program could suddenly ordered the notebook to turn off automatically, because the mismatch between the program and the micro chip inside the battery.
In addition, generic batteries are cheap, often made with a ungood safety standards. In contrast batteries from leading brands use components that have been tested and passed the safety test. Therefore the price of the original batteries are usually expensive, because they have to use expensive components. Several incidents of generic batteries do not work in certain notebooks, because  applications in the notebook is already programmed to reject the generic battery to avoid dangerous battery consumption.
Indeed there are some people who do not have a problem with generic batteries. But you should consider whether it is appropriate to save a little money with the potential risk to be faced.

whereas when the windows XP installation process requires a SATA driver via floppy drives

How to Overcome:

1. Change your settings in the BIOS from SATA to IDE mode (acer already provides this facility)

Go into the bios by pressing F2 when booting
then go to "Main> SATA Mode>", in the sata mode there are two options, namely "IDE" and "IHCI"
then choose "IDE". then select the exit and save settings. The next installation process can be done

2. Keep using SATA hard drive mode, but uses the help of floppy media (usb floppy disk).
when the installation process press F6 at the beginning of the process, which will be used to insert the SATA drivers.

3. Keep using SATA hard drive mode, but modify the WinXP installation CD by adding the sata drivers into the WinXP installation CD.

Using nlite program to include sata drivers into the installation of WinXp,
step by step for details please search in google with keywords "windows XP nlite".

Using standard installation.

Advantages & Disadvantages of each method of installation:

method 1
T
he notebook have not the maximum speed, because there is one feature that the downgrade. The surplus is installation is very easy  (such as installing WinXP in general).
method 2
The drawback is that we have to buy a usb floppy that is only in use during the installation, because the notebook does not have a floppy. While the advantage is we can have a usb floppy.

method 3
The drawback is that we have to modify the windows XP cd, and relatively complicated in the beginning. And the advantage is we do not need to use a usb floppy and can cover the shortcomings of the methods one and two.

method 4
shortcomings and advantages already know.
